About Us

Hello, and welcome to Reflections Framing & Stitching!

I'm Julie McConnell, the owner.

Reflections Framing and Stitching is a family-owned business which caters to your counted cross stitch and custom framing needs. I understand the monetary and sentimental value of your projects and artwork and treat each frame job with the utmost care and respect. In addition to framing artwork and memorabilia, I also specialize in the framing of  counted cross-stitch.

A little about the Shop

The Past:

Reflections has been in business as a Frame Shop for over 20 years.  It was originally part of the old Ben Franklin store located in Papillion, Nebraska.  When Ben Franklin closed their doors for good, the stores framer purchased the equipment and started her own shop (American Reflections) on the south end of Tara Plaza.  She eventually sold the shop and moved to be with family.  I started with the shop shortly after the new owner took over.  I was an avid cross stitcher that was disenchanted with the framing done by "the big box" stores.  I walked into the frame shop 16 years ago and asked the owner if they'd consider taking on an apprentice and so began my career as a Custom Picture Framer! I fell in love with framing.  Helping the client choose just the right mats and mouldings to complement their artwork, making sure that what is done protects that artwork and causes no harm, treating each piece as if it were my own, has been the most rewarding experience of my life, next to raising my kids of course!  So when the owner decided to sell the business, I stayed on as the framer since the new owners had no experience with framing.  Not long after that, the economy took a nose dive and in order to survive the dive, Counted Cross Stitch supplies were added to the shop.  Now both of my passions were combined into one!  The years following the economic downturn were not easy years but we, (the owners and I) gradually built the shop back up into a thriving business.  Several years later, due to health issues, the owners were faced with selling or closing the business.  Their wish was for me to buy the shop and that was my wish too.  The thought of not having the shop in my life was unthinkable so in the fall of 2015 I took a leap of faith and purchased Reflections.

The Present:

It's been 4 years now since I made that decision and in spite of the ups and downs and of some of the hardest work I have ever done in my life, I have to say that every drop of blood, sweat and tears has been worth it.  I look back and see how far I have come and I'm amazed.  My customers are some of the most wonderful people you ever want to meet and they have been with me through it all.  Without them and their continued support I wouldn't be here doing what I love.  I continue to enjoy helping my framing clients, many of whom have been with me for all these years and I love helping stitchers choose the perfect fabric and floss for their projects which I feel is just an extension of my first love...framing.

The Future:

One never knows what the future holds but my plan is to continue to grow the business beginning with this website and online shopping cart!  I will continue to add new designers, fabrics and floss to the shop's inventory, new models to the walls, add more events like classes and trunk shows and whatever else my brain can think up, to continue to make Reflections the go to shop for all your cross stitch and framing needs!
